Start your day with expertly crafted coffee and pastries, stop in for a classic porchetta sandwich in the afternoon, or finish your day with our fresh homemade pasta, paired with an original house-infused vermouth cocktail or wine from our carefully-selected list.
Inspired by the recipes of our grandparents and great-grandparents, as well as the sun-drenched countries and seas of Southern Europe, the Eastern Mediterranean, and North Africa, we choose fresh local ingredients to prepare simple and modern artisan dishes with beautifully defined flavors.
Grilled fish served head to tail, mezes of taverns, and the highest quality olive oils and wines are Sospeso’s signature offerings. A seamless blend of original history and modern rustic design, Sospeso’s natural light-soaked industrial space evokes a refined dining experience with a unique sense of the comforts of the Mediterranean.
The name Sospeso comes from Caffè Sospeso, which literally means "suspended coffee." This is a Neapolitan practice of someone anonymously paying for a coffee ahead for someone else in need. We look forward to carrying on the tradition.
“Those who enjoy nothing more than thinking about, Instagramming and eating food will want to make haste for the District edition of The Emporium as it descends on Union Market” -Washington Post
Over 6,000 attendees joined us for the third annual Empoiryum in Dock5 at Union Market, November 12-13, 2016. The event touted over 90 vendors from across the nation, hailing from Charleston SC, Brooklyn NY, Plymouth VT, Washington DC and more.
“Looking for a mouth-watering, stomach-rubbing way to spend your weekend? Then it’s time to ditch your mundane Saturday (and Sunday!) “to-do” list and discover the deliciousness at one of DC’s hottest food events this fall.” -See DC
Attendees enjoyed a fabulous lineup of vendors ranging from the sweet Hong Kong Waffle treat by Eggloo, the infamous Ramen Burger, tequila spiked coconuts from CoCo & Co. Local favorites returned as Shake Shack partnered with Maketto to dished out Erik Bruner-Yang’s Peking Chicken Sandwich and Gordy’s Pickle Jar & Green Hat Gin served up some delicious bloody marys.
Very thankful for the team to throw me in as a photographer for the event and will happily surround myself with delicious treats and foodie lovers any day!

The first "Roof Top Farm" in DC. I was happy to photograph this event and meet all the wonderful folks who put this together. Pineapple, who was the curator for this event, brought in 60+ people to the roof. Featuring grub from both Up Top Acres and Little Sesame. Their goal is to get other businesses with rooftops, transform them into edible gardens.

"Leah was fantastic to work with. I'm not sure how, but she made a photo shoot in 90-degree weather a pleasurable experience. She was professional, personable and kept the rhythm of the shoot fun and efficient; something that was particularly important to us during a busy part of our schedule.
