Originally from Panama and a world-traveled Army brat, Leah Beilhart's life and work covers 20 countries and 200,000+ miles across the United States. She's been published and recognized as a change-maker and social impact innovator in Washington, D.C. by Mayor Muriel Bowser. What she loves about portraiture is watching people breakthrough their insecurities and rediscover their strength, their confidence, and finding permission to love every inch of themselves.
Her time is partly spent curating events for her organization, Behold. Her, a growing community that encompasses stigmatized conversations and interviews of women.
Her work is unapologetic and bold. She focuses on capturing strength and empathy in her portraits. She has a Bachelors and Masters in Fine Arts with a concentration in both Art Therapy and New Media Journalism. When she’s not doing photography, she’s studying to become eligible to fight the war against child sex slavery.
"A mistress of light and shade. Her photos take you on a journey; sometimes dark, sometimes joyful, always otherworldly and always with a spark of fun."
Eloise Crawshaw, Australia
