PROGRESS

In 2016, BEHOLD.HER launched a pilot project with 9 participants, which was sponsored by Kicheko Goods. The purpose of this event was to test the portrait event concept and obtain feedback from participants on their experience.

In 2017, BEHOLD.HER hosted over 18 ticketed events (e.g. happy hours, brunches, and an annual party) for 360 attendees, 10 of which were portrait events for 217 women. (Donations from ticket proceeds were made to seven non-profit organizations.) BEHOLD.HER also partnered with Together We Bake to provide a pro bono makeover and portrait session for women who had previously been incarcerated, homeless or suffered from drug addictions.

In 2018, BEHOLD.HER hosted 21 events for 310 attendees, 9 of which were portrait events. It also hosted the Love Is AWK comedy show for 84 attendees in honor of Galentine’s Day. That same year, BEHOLD.HER moderated the Worth 100 Symposium with lululemon for International Women’s Day, which hosted approximately 275 women.

In 2019, BEHOLD.HER moderated Ann Taylor’s International Women’s Day #BalanceForBetter event, which convened 50 women and women-owned business partners from the local community to discuss the importance of self-care.

To-date, BEHOLD.HER has photographed 300 women for the Portrait Events. Some of the topics covered include the following: Motherhood When You’re the Boss; Eating Disorders; Muslim Women (In Her Own Words Series); Pro-Voice/Abortion; The Complexities & Expectations of Female Friendships; Kindness, Compassion & Comparison; Sexuality & Consent; Owning Your Courage, Claiming Your Narrative; and Why I March.
