This is the first event that I've been to of this nature that I wasn't helping to put on. It's the first time I've participated and not been responsible for opening bottles of wine and running around. I think it's so great to hear the stories that people are able to share. People feed off each other's energy, people are able to open up and get things off their chest they're not usually able to share and it also helps that we don't know each other all that well. It easier for us to get that all out. This has been beneficial for me to see how much it really helps and how much you can learn about different perspectives in a non-threatening way like having to hear "THIS IS MY OPINION" and instead it's a lot more calmer."

Another upcoming portrait event. Ladies, for those of you who are coming across my page for the first time and are currently in the DMV area, I run an event series for women called @_behold.her. It's based around storytelling and portraiture. These gatherings are built to foster a foundation for self-love, communal support, and intimate conversations. This month, June 27th at @cottonandreed, will be a discussion about "Sexuality and Consent". The talk will be led by @sim1ontharun, food provided by @tolimolidc and all the dranks and vibes organized by @reallyfarrah by @dimsumdc. A precentage of the proceeds will be donated to DVRP (Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault org). Hope to see you there, tickets in the bio. All types of women are welcomed. Together We Bake is a nonprofit job training and personal development program for women in need, centered around a small bakery. They provide hard skills and soft skills training, along with empowerment and self-confidence building.
@_behold.her is partnering with TWB to host an evening to their graduates to give them an opportunity to speak and share their stories in a way they haven’t before. We're looking for a couple make-up artists to provide mini-makeovers for these women on June 21st. (Portraits are scheduled from 5:30-8:30pm their our HQ in Old Town Alexandria - 212 S Washington St.) Our clients come from disadvantaged backgrounds and we want them to recognize their empowered, beautiful selves. If you’re interested or know someone who would be interested in donating their services, as we all are for this opportunity for them, please send me a message. I was so close I could see her sweat. Lucky to photograph @gloria.gaynor during the big Disco celebration week at the @librarycongress.

This chica just left for a much needed vacation to Florida but wanted to give another huge shout out to her and her team at @republicrestoratives for providing the yummiest cocktails at one of the last @_behold.her events. Always a blast to experience what everyone creates here in DC. Ladies do you have any recommendations or favorite women owned businesses?

Ladies, ladies, ladies! @emiliaferraradc, owner of Capitally magazine, is hosting an upcoming event for @_behold.her! I'm so pumped to see so many businesses work with us to make this BOMB! On May 25th from 6-9PM we'll be having food and drinks provided by @sallysmiddlename and @littleleafshop will be decorating the space for that evening! Peer pong shenanigans will be present (hopefully on the patio if the weather holds) with brewskis provided by the chicas at @denizensbrewing! Also, some gift bags will be handed to ya on your way out with some of our favorite ladies in town like @kichekogoods, @florescentperfume and @tasty6 to name a few! It's Mother's Day and my birthday today! Couldn't have imagined it any better... well besides the fact I wish I could spend it with her but she's still in Germany with the rest of the gang. So in the meantime, I'm happy to see where life continues to move and I'm proud knowing the amazing people who continue to support me. 25 feels good.
